“As ye go, preach saying, The kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Matthew 10:7

It has been a day of joy and gladness here in Los Alamos, Chile. The sun was shining brightly above us and in our heart the Son of Man burned even brighter.

We were in church for 4 hours but it seemed as time flew by this morning. Bob Whitney and I presented the new Sabbath school felts that were donated by the Deltona, Fla. Sabbath school class. It has become a habit of theirs to take on a good size donation project each year. They collect the money and then ask me to suggest a good place for it to go. The Los Alamos church did not have much to use to teach their children the stories that will change the lives of these little ones. They now have a 3 year cycle of all Bible stories to use. Bob W. also brought with him some mission felts donated by another church near him. Kim also donated new scissors to cut out the felts with. Paul Miller had used his artistry to make a beautiful wooden box from the wood taken from the very first Adventist church ever. He had been hired to rebuild some of this church which was in New Hampshire. This was a very precious and historical present. There were 3 elderly people in church today who were introduced to the congregation. The very first Adventist church in this area was started in the one couple’s home. The other elderly lady was the one who brought the message of the Sabbath to this area. How glad they must be that the Lord blessed them with a long enough life to actually see this new church being raised up and used to God’s glory. Another gift was given to each of us this morning by the church folks. It was a piece of indigenous wood, of which we were reminded it might be a rare thing soon as the deforestation continues at a faster rate than growth. On the finished piece of wood was a bow with the colors of the Chile flag and the name oh the 7th day Adventist church with today’s date. A wonderful remembrance of a wonderful place in time. Bob Young was also presented a beautiful oil painting for his office; he was overwhelmed so say the least. Here we come to give to these people and we are going home with more gifts than we could ever have imagined.

There were 7 extra children in church today. The direct result of the children’s meetings held this last week. We pray that they will remain a part of Jesus’ church until He comes to take them home.

Pastor Rigo preached a spiritually invigorating sermon on “the mission of Christ” saying you can not fulfill the mission of Christ without love in your heart for Him. Neh. 6:3 was one of the scriptures read and we were warned not to let anything stop you from your mission. “Jesus is coming, ready or not!” Are you ready for His appearing? If not then you need to make friends with the one who is waiting to save you and take you home with Him, do not miss out on what He has planned for you.

After today’s baptism’s, Rigo told about the many people who stood with tears in their eyes wanting to give their life to Christ. He encouraged them to not stop now but to continue on, search out their Pastor if need be but do not let this great opportunity pass them by. God has spoken to them and it is no mistake.

Just before dinner this evening the Pathfinder group from the church showed up to give us yet another gift they made. It has the colors of Chile on it and the scripture saying how good and pleasant it is when brother’s live together in unity! Psalm 133:1. It was written in both English and Spanish. Next we received a huge beautifully decorated cake from the nursing home. If we don’t get out of here soon we won’t even be able to carry our luggage out it will be so filled. There just can’t be a more grateful and giving people in the whole world at the people of Los Alamos, Chile. As I am finishing this email I have had to stop 2 different times to come receive more gifts as more and more people come to say goodbye. The Lord says He loves a cheerful giver; He must certainly love these people.

We will be leaving for Chillan tomorrow at 7 A.M. for our excursion before heading back to the states on Tuesday. This will probably be the last email you will receive until we are home.

“There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.” Proverbs 13:7

Until then, pray with out ceasing and give thanks in all things. We miss you all so very much, pray for our safety.

Smiling in Christ,

Jennifer Young, Mission Reporter
