Happy Sabbath,
What a wonderful blessing to be able to not only rest from our physical labor but to also know that we rest in Jesus for our salvation. Praise be His name! The day has been wonderful and the spiritual food has been spectacular. We had church service in what will probably be the last time in the old church building. The church was packed with many people standing in the back of the room and out unto the hallway entrance. The opening of Sabbath school was devoted to testimony time with many people joining in telling of their experiences this week. Sabbath school was given in Spanish and translated for us by Marcus and was very enticing for participation. During church service a prayer for healing was made for a dear brother who was 87 years old and whose hands were visibly swollen. Pastors Rigo D. Dwight T. and Mark B. were on the platform along with Amy B. who read our opening scripture. The sermon was given by Bob Young on the topic of bringing friends and family to meet Jesus and was very well received. The opening music was done by Olga and the closing music was sung by Maria, both of them are our translators from the University. The kinship of love in Jesus was so strong in the building that you could almost reach out and touch it. Everyone hugged and waved along with the traditional touch of cheeks and kiss into the air which is done by all as a greeting. There is a sense of awe as we mingle together with people of such different customs and yet knowing that we all serve and love the same Master. Just knowing that we will be with these friends again when Jesus comes for us and will never have to part gives us stamina to continue on. Bob Whitney went to one of the near by towns to preach at that church. One lady asked him how he knew of their problem. He didnt, the sermon was written 4 months ago. But God had already inspired Bob W. There are about 10 of us who are sick now with headache and chills, so please put that on your prayer list. We need to stop this from spreading throughout the group. In the afternoon we went to a Mapuche Indian museum that was about 30 minutes away. The ride was more than comfortable as the town has loaned us the use of a very luxurious tour bus to use at our discretion. Seeing the Mapuche artifacts and being able to watch a Mapuche woman weaving was very interesting. There was a typical hut on the property that they now use to sell their wares. It was just until about 10 years ago that the Mapuche stopped using huts to live in. Sandra Pinnao who is one of our translators is full Mapuche so she was able to tell us a great deal about the customs. They believe there is one God, the creator of all. There are 800,000 Mapuche left in Chile and there is a huge racist problem going on in full force. The Mapuche were the only people that Spain was not able to conquer and after 500 years of battles Spain ended up going around their area and leaving them alone and that is why the Mapuche are in one section of Chile. Later on when more Europeans came they ended up taking the best part of their land and leaving them with the worse. Right now there is great civil uprising amongst the Indians as they are demanding that the country give them their land back. The President has had to assign a special person to try to figure out what is best to do to solve this. But we know it will only be totally solved with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Not until then will the hurts of the world be healed. Until then the tears and the heartache continue on. But as disciples of Jesus it is up to us to soften the cuts and bruises as much as we can. Love is like a broad spectrum antibiotic in a world filled with infection. Tonight many of our team went into town and passed out over 500 hand bills telling about our evangelism program that will start Monday. We know you will be praying for miracles to happen and we are expecting just that. These people have hurt long enough, they need the balm of Gilead poured on their wounds and we want to be part of the healing process through Jesus. May you always hear that still small voice calling to you with words of love, drawing you ever closer to Him who has always loved you best. May your life be such that everyone that comes near you gets caught up in the whirlwind of His love. Press on dear friends, the time is close. Because He lives, I send smiles across the miles,
