The morning is filled with the promise of a closer walk with you Lord. And we thank you for it.
The teams have left for their various places as Pastor Gary waits for his driver who did not show up and is being replaced. Bob is on his way to pick up the steel and have it delivered to the future playground. What a sight to behold all the men putting the large see-saw into the back of a pick up and tying it in. they have about an hours ride ahead of them. Before they can leave though, Bob and a few other men have to push the truck to get it started. A situation that happens each time it is used. Seems we have found a hidden treasure in our guard Oswaldo. He was at the meetings last night, not in his M.I.B. uniform, but in dress pants, shirt and tie. Bob was asking if he could lead out in singing and Oswaldo not only agreed but did it with such grace and style it was amazing. His leadership ability is outstanding along with his zeal. Bob checked on the medical clinic around noon and Dr. Bainam said gee Bob, I have only seen 71 patients this morning, cant we get them in any faster? Dr. Bainam ended up having a record day with total for his day at 210 exams. Obviously our clinic is still very busy. There is still a little black market process going on with the tickets. They are being bought from the poorest at a small price and sold to the richer for a higher price. Plus counterfeit tickets are coming in too. The church walls are all up and half of the roof is on. One side of the church has the bars in the windows and the other half will be in shortly. The see-saw or teeter totter, according to where you live in the USA is now in the ground as well as the monkey bars. The cement is drying over night and should be ready for morning when our youth will then paint all the metal a bright, fun shade of red. There is a local church man who is so poor that his shoes are falling apart and his clothes are all torn. So we hired him to sleep at the playground tonight to guard it. This gave him some money with keeping his pride in tack. On the way to bring supper to our team and then prepare for the meetings we past fields of sugar cane ready to be planted, some areas were already irrigated and wet, ready for the stalks to be put in. There is sugar cane growing at all stages of process at all times. At the church is not only our teams of workers but many onlookers are observing the work. A little adobe store is not very far away. In side are bins of fresh produce, including the famous purple corn. A huge rooster sits on the counter in a very proud way but is shooed out when we take notice of him. The childrens tent is filling up quickly again tonight as Treden, Taylor, Courtney, Kim, Angela and Sarah lead out in song. Next Kim showed pictures from home to the crowd. Pictures of our church were shown and with snow on the ground which these children have never seen, elicited many sounds of awe. There were pictures of many of the children that the local kids have already met here on the site and could identify with. The meeting was overflowing again with the most incredibly well behaved children that we have come across in all our travels. Some had brought their puppies with them and local dogs roamed in and out of both meetings at will. It seems like everyone around here has at least one dog. They often keep them on the roof of their adobe. The main meeting went very well. Pastor Gary preached on the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. He is using a Spanish power point program for visual aid and the people seem to really enjoy it. The Passion of love book was given out tonight at the end of the meeting. Any one attending 4 nights of the meetings will receive a new Bible on Friday night. Angela, who is one of our translators, is doing a marvelous job. She is a real leader and is not afraid or shy at all. She stands at the door and helps write down the peoples name on their ticket and then ushers them to a seat. She also did special music for us and has a lovely voice. She is the daughter of one of the mission Pastors here in Peru. We are having a little difficulty with our daily figures due to many of us are passing like strangers in the night as we go back and forth to our various duties. We will catch up on a total tomorrow. Pray for us as we pray for you. Special prayer was said for our dear Jillian as she was in surgery this morning in N.Y. Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 24, 25
